A new bipartisan bill could pass so that no more clocks in America have to change twice a year. This bill is the Sunshine Protection Act which was approved by the Senate.
According to the Associated Press, many senators believe the change to permanent daylight savings time would have a positive effect on public health and the economy while positively affecting energy consumption.
Many Americans feel that changing the clocks is unnecessary and no longer provides any benefits. With permanent daylight savings time, people will be able to enjoy more sunshine after a long day at school or work.
According to the Associated Press, “Members of Congress have long been interested in the potential benefits and costs of daylight savings time since it was first adopted as a wartime measure in 1942.” The bill will need to be approved by the House of Representatives and signed by President Joe Biden before it becomes a law.
Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, who is a supporter of the bill says, if passed, the bill would be implemented in late November 2023 due to existing schedules the transportation industry has adjusted.
